As we wrap up 2024, we’re taking a moment to reflect on everything this year has brought us here at the farm. 🌸

This was our second full year on our new farm, and wow, what a journey it’s been! From the excitement of seeing our vision come to life to the inevitable challenges (because let’s face it, farming never goes exactly to plan), we’ve learned so much.

Getting plants in on time was one of those hurdles that kept us on our toes, but seeing fields of vibrant flowers made every late night and early morning worth it. 🌿 We celebrated successes that filled our hearts with pride—we had a great farm crew this summer, purchased a 5-ton truck (game changer), and were supported by our amazing community. We also faced challenges that reminded us to give ourselves grace and lean into rest when it was needed.

Now, as we look ahead to 2025, we’re bursting with ideas and plans to grow even more. We’re ready to dive into the new year with gratitude, determination, and excitement.

Have you started your seeds? We were so eager and started early last year, then we had the crazy cold snap, and most of our seedlings stretched and stretched and we had to start again…suffice it to say it was a bit of a hot mess! So we waited an extra few weeks this year, but we are now light speed ahead, let the garden growing begin!! Shoutout to @tslot for getting our first round of seeds sown. Did you wait a little later this year to start your seedlings?

2023 has been a year of pivoting and survival. A type of hard we were not expecting, which made it harder to show up and post all the beauty that was coming out of our flower fields. We suffered losses, health challenges, exhaustion but despite it all we fully transitioned to our new farm, finally constructed our greenhouses, and now are getting ready for our 2024 season.

While we’re so ready to say farewell to 2023, we are thankful for family, friends, colleagues who showed up, offered a hand, an ear, a shoulder, or was simply just kind. It made a difference.💕

Did you know, as the weather starts to get warmer the ranunculus start to slow down. Ranunculus grow best in full sun, well-draining soil, at 12-15 degrees Celsius during the day. Although it’s warming up quickly in the PNW, we will keep harvesting as long as possible!

As a commercial cut flower grower, we cut at least 3 times a week to align with the flower auction @ufgca, and to the support the needs of our customers! Regular cutting also encourages plants to produce new blooms, for continuous cuts.

It was a blueberry planting kinda day! We’re slowly building up our orchard and just added our third variety of blueberries - Chandler. This variety is a medium-sized bushy and compact shrub grown for its edible qualities. It produces large clusters of blue, round and super sweet berries that are typically ready for picking from mid to late summer. We’re excited for summer fruit, are you?
