Job Overview

Position: Farm Hand

Rate: $18/hour

Location: Langley, BC

Start date: mid-April (Seasonal position)

Hours: 40 hours/week

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the ideal candidate is self-motivated and is able to work independently, as well as apart of a team, in a fast paced environment. This ideal candidate will also have previous agricultural or landscaping experience, and/or is interested in gaining experience in cut flower production. As a bonus there will be opportunity to enjoy fresh vegetables and flowers to take home through the season for our farm crew to personally enjoy.

Job Duties

Daily job duties include, but not limited to:

planting, harvesting, weeding, packing and preparing cut flowers
digging up, cleaning and storing tubers in proper manner
prepare for harvest days (fill water buckets, transfer flowers to cooler, etc.)
deliver flowers to wholesale co-op, and learn computer software system
bending, kneeling, standing and lifting up to 50lbs
other general farm tasks

You’re also a strong communicator with good interpersonal skills, and are able to follow detailed instructions. Our farm crew must be open to a flexible work schedule (e.g. working Saturday’s). As a farm hand, you are hard working and able to work in all weather conditions, including warm sunny, rainy, and windy days. You must also have reliable transportation to and from the farm.

Eligible Applicants

This position is partially funded by the WorkBC Wage Subsidy Program. Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, or permanent resident for the duration of employment, and legally entitled to work in Canada. This includes having a valid Social Insurance Number.
